Cothnejo Fishy Illustration
The new bar opening back in 2017, in Barrio Amón, San Jose, Costa Rica, was named after one of the characters of a story written by a famous and beloved costarican writer called Carmen Lyra.
Cothnejo Fishy are the family last names of the fictitious characters, whom despite being born in a rather simple and ignorant home, live a sumptuous life to the level of the wealthiest and educated families. Since their original last name "Conejo" (which means rabbit) wasn't as impressive and appealing as the last names of the rest of their rich friends with european progenitors, they decided to ad "th" to theirs and thus resulting Cothnejo.
The bar makes fun of this simplicity and haughty behavior of the characters and provide a traditional yet sophisticated culinary experience in the same neighborhood whose people inspired Carmen's story almost half a century ago.
Getting Inspired
Cothnejo Fishy of course also makes a literal reference to a rabbit and a fish, so I immediately remembered the drawings of sea monsters in old marine maps. In the search, images of evil rabbits from medieval manuscripts also popped up. Added a little bit of Alice in Wonderland's rabbit and the idea was done.

Results
Adobe Illustrator was used to accomplish the line art effect.

BONUS
I also attended to the opening night to record a quick promo video for the place. A Nikon D7000, Tokina 11-24mm 2.8 wide lens, a handheld stabilizer, After Effects & Premier where used for the production/editing process. Props to Agustín Salazar for the help while filming.
